Plastic Nozzle Molding

This is a plastic molding fixture which is used for making small plastic nozzles.

A glass nozzle base 2, having a precision orifice 4, is used to position a contoured tungsten tip 6 to a selected depth with the orifice 4.

A reinforcement material 8 is placed around the tip 6 for good dimensional stability of the finished molded plastic nozzle. A suitable plastic material is injected in the area 10 around the tip between the glass base 2 and reinforcement 8.

After the plastic has solidified the tip 6 is easily removed. The glass base 2 may also be removed. The result is a plastic nozzle with a contoured entrance and exit aperture, and having good dimensional stability when subjected to the effects of temperature and pressure.
