Self Sealing, Self Opening Container Collar

A self-opening, self-sealing container for powder and/or liquid materials is shown.

The container comprises sidewall portions 10 attached to a suitable collar 12 which is shaped to mate with a suitable receptacle 20 to receive the contents of the container. The container is sealed by a closure 14 across the lower portion, as shown in the drawing, and four small cutters 16 are spaced around the lower edge of the receptacle 20.

The container is placed in the receptacle 20 and turned 90 degrees at which point the container is locked in place. A gasket 18 provides a seal to prevent the escape of the contents of the container. The placing of the container in the receptacle 20 and the turning through 90 degrees causes the cutters 16 to cut the closure 14 around the mouth of the container, with the exception of a small section which is left uncut. This permits the closure 14 to hinge open and permits the contents of the container to empty.
