Type Wheel Cleaner

A wiper for type elements may be formed of polymeric bristles and installed as a permanent, stationary unit to prevent buildup of dust and ink residue. VELCRO* or FIBER-TRAN** are suitable bristle materials.

The pad 1 supporting bristles 2 is adjusted to be in continuous contact with type wheels 3 as they rotate with shaft 4. Adjustment is not critical, but contact may be sufficient to provide interference between the bristles 2 and type.

A further advantage is obtained by locating the wiping element so that it engages the type immediately after having been inked by an ink roll. The wiper maintains the uniform ink density even when characters are repeatedly printed. * Trademark of American Velcro Incorporated **Trademark of Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co.
