Abstract

The integrated clamp depicted in Fig. 1 comprises a modified output transistor structure whose subcollector, reach through and collector contact are common to both the transistor and clamp portions of the structure. The schematic diagram of Fig. 2 shows how the clamp may be optionally disabled by removing the connection between its emitter and the power supply V. This option, accomplished at first-level metallization, provides a speed adjustment capability often desirable to compensate for system race conditions, etc.
