Switch Actuator

The apparatus, as shown schematically in the figure, depicts a switch actuator.

The device includes a permanent magnet 10 which is attached to one end of extension spring 12. The other end of extension spring 12 is secured to mounting clamp 14. Actuator button 16 is attached to actuator spring 12. Switching means 16, for example a Hall device, is positioned relative to magnet actuator 10.

In order to activate the switch, pressure is applied to actuator button 16 in the direction shown by arrow 20. The application of pressure results in motion to actuator button 16, and the motion of actuator button 16 is magnified at the magnet end of actuator spring 12. Due to the pressure and the torsional movement of the spring coils of actuator spring 12, magnet actuator 10 is pivoted from its closed or "on" position A to its open or "off" position B.
