Abstract

In Fig. 1 there is shown a copier 10 with a collator/stapler module 12 attached thereto. The paper path 14 is from the copier 10 into the collator bins 16. Each of the collator bins 16 has an exit gate 18 at its bottom right side. When a complete collated set has been collected in a bin 16, gate 18 of that bin is opened allowing the collated set to fall via chute 20 to a stapler station 22. After the collated set is stapled by stapler 22 a stapled set is dropped into bin 24.

Stapler Unloader for Copier

In Fig. 1 there is shown a copier 10 with a collator/stapler module 12 attached thereto. The paper path 14 is from the copier 10 into the collator bins

Fig. 2 shows the exit gates 18, chute 20 and stapler 22 in more detail. A collated set coming down chute 20 is collected on aligner tray 26. Aligner tray 26 vibrates and has edge guides, not shown, to corner reference the sheets of the collated set in the stapler 22. When the collated set is in the proper position, stapler 22 is activated to staple the collated set together. While stapler 22 is gripping the collated set, aligner tray 26 can be pivoted down or moved to the right. Thus, when the jaws of the stapler 22 open the stapled, collated set will fall into bin 24.
