The D/2/L Clamp circuit depicted in the drawing increases switching speed by clamping the positive transition at the collector of T1 at an optimum level.

A clamped level of approximately 1 volt is produced by turning T2 on through Schottky barrier diode D3. whose forward characteristic is 280 millivolts at 0.1 milliampere.

Schottky barrier diode D4 removes base charge from T2 for improved performance at high-switching rates.
