Abstract

An attachment plate 10 is secured to a molded body 11 by a pair of self-tapping screws 12. The molded body 11 includes a pair of rectangular bosses 14 which present attachment surfaces 15 and define a slot 16 therebetween. Self-tapping screws 12 extend through respective openings in attachment plate 10 and are received in slot 16, where retention is effected by engagement of the screw threads and the confronting wall surfaces which define slot 16.

Fabricating Molded Articles

An attachment plate 10 is secured to a molded body 11 by a pair of self- tapping screws 12. The molded body 11 includes a pair of rectangular bosses 14 which present attachment surfaces 15 and define a slot 16 therebetween. Self- tapping screws 12 extend through respective openings in attachment plate 10 and are received in slot 16, where retention is effected by engagement of the screw threads and the confronting wall surfaces which define slot 16.

Use of slots 16 for receiving thread forming screws 12 rather than providing cylindrical recesses permits the body portion 11 to be molded with a simple two- part mold, whereas side-pull devices would be required under circumstances where cylindrical screw receiving recesses were required having an axis which did not coincide with the direction of pull of the moveable mold portion.
