Universal Air Track Intersection

Shown is an air track intersection that uses a gear driven rotary turntable to direct a wafer.

Fig. 1 shows the air track intersection. Wafers entering the intersection 2 are sensed and stopped by vacuum ports 4. Changes in port vacuum rotates the turntable 6, shuts off the vacuum hold, and permits the wafer to leave the intersection in the desired direction.

The vacuum stops 2-1/4'' and 3-1/4'' wafers. Shown is a 2-1/4'' wafer 8 and 3-1/4'' wafer 10. Also shown are the channel louvers 12.

Fig. 2 is a cross section of the turntable, including: motor 14, thrust bearing 16, top plate 18 and ball bearing 20. Fig. 3 is a cross section of Fig. 2 including: gears 22, microswitch 24, air port 26 and vacuum port 28.
