Web Control Process

A "Web Control Process" is shown in the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin, Vol. 15 No. 12 May 1973, Pages 3610 and 3611.

The throughput of such a process can be increased by running a four wide web. This decreases the fixed scrap by eliminating the medial trim strip between streams. The wider web introduces slack edges and tab card damage from tooling functions performed on adjacent streams. The edge nicking can be eliminated by stretching the paper web transversely as it passes through the slitter rolls.
