Sliding Hold Pad

Toner cartridge 11 includes a fold back peelable lid 13. In order to insure product integrity during shipment, it is necessary to package the cartridge in a container which prevents lid peeling and damage to the lid assembly during shipment.

A sliding hold pad 15 protects and holds the entire rim of cartridge 11 with four side containment. The hold pad 15 protects and isolates the lid with the bottom pad 17, provides two end panels 19 and 21 for foam end pad bearing surfaces 23 and cushions the top with two top pads 25.

By placing the two foam end pads 23 between end panels 19, 21 and the shipping carton 27, the sliding hold pad 15 and cartridge 11 function as a unit during shipping and handling. During rough treatment, the hold pad/cartridge slides as a unit and dissipates the damaging forces into the hold pad 15, foam end pads 23 and carton 27. End projections 29 serve to locate the pad 15 within the carton 27 during assembly.
