Abstract

Improved performance of a rotary press system which applies glue to paper can be achieved by accurately controlling the temperature of the glue within a small range. This allows the press to be run at high speed without stringing of the glue. Controlling the temperature of the glue also improves the shelf life of the resulting product.

Improved performance of a rotary press system which applies glue to paper can be achieved by accurately controlling the temperature of the glue within a small range. This allows the press to be run at high speed without stringing of the glue. Controlling the temperature of the glue also improves the shelf life of the resulting product.

The heating circuitry can also include a continuous seven-day timer to perform the following functions: 1. Preheat the adhesive system one hour prior to start-up time on Monday mornings. 2. Reset the temperature of the cylinder and pan at the end of each days operation to a tower setting of 200 degrees F. 3. Turn on the heater circuitry every day prior to the time the operator arrives at the plant. 4. Turn down or reset the temperature manually.
