Control Panel

A control panel combines touch contacts with back-lighted displays Wired by printed circuits.

Contacts on a lower portion of a flexible switching circuit are selectively closed against ground contacts on an upper portion of the circuit, by applying finger pressure through holes in a panel. An external flat cable is connected to the flexible switching circuit by pressing corresponding pads on the cable and the circuit together with a connector boss. A transparent printed overlay under the panel identifies each contact.

Molded light reflectors on the base retain bulbs for back-lighting printed legends on the transparent overlay through holes in the MYLAR* switch contact separator and clear sections of the generally transparent flexible switching circuit. A circuit board in the base powers the bulbs. The elements are assembled by sticking them on the indexing lugs which are snap-fitted into the base. * Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.
