Off Chip Collector Driver With Integral Inhibit

The functional testing of integrated circuits often requires the ability to inhibit switching of some of the off-chip dots in the driver net. This feature is usually accomplished by an additional logic circuit at the input to each off-chip driver.

The off-chip collector driver depicted in the drawing includes a built-in inhibit gate diode, D2, thus eliminating the need for additional inhibit logic. Diodes D1 and D2 have low-forward voltage characteristics to insure adequate circuit noise tolerance.
