Printed Circuit Vacuum Platen

Apparatus to provide a precision surface for certain operations such as printing is shown.

The apparatus comprises a platen 10 including vacuum ports 12. The vacuum works through paper 14 and ribbon 16 to hold them flat against platen 10 without obstructing the open surface of the system.

The vacuum to the platen can be controlled by a simple valve and the platen can be fabricated from the laminate typically used for printed circuits, if desired.
