Abstract

To manually open a machine-openable tape-containing cartridge, such as shown in U. S. patent 3,825,208, a unitary flexible member compresses a plural-toothed latch free of a catch on a cartridge cover. The unitary member has an outer ring for self-centering the member on the inside diameter of the cartridge cover. Once the opening tool has been centered on the cover, the center plunger is pushed downwardly, engaging the inner ring with the multifingered latch to disengage the fingers from the cover catch. A flexible web connects the outer ring with the inner ring.
