Chain Master Link

A simplified master link eliminates the need for hard-to-handle retaining clips.

A snap plate simultaneously serves as the connecting plate between two master link pins and as the plate retainer. Apertures in the plate are contoured to an inside diameter smaller than the outside diameter of the master link pins. A feasible diameter difference is on the order of one-hundredth of an inch for a one-tenth inch link pin. Grooves are provided on the link pins to retain the plate in place while permitting relative motion between the pins and plate.
