Zener Diode Sharing

One of the best techniques for reducing the drop times of magnets is to use a zener diode in a circuit like the one illustrated in Fig. 1.

Instead of adding another drop circuit for additional magnets, an existing zener diode can be shared between two or more magnets by using the circuit illustrated in Fig. 2. The sharing of a zener diode makes it possible to improve the performance of additional magnets with no additional cost or space requirements provided. The turn-off times are staggered so that the maximum current level in the zener diode is not exceeded.
