Connector for Unlike Circuit Devices

Fig. 1 is a top view and Fig. 2 is an edge view of a device for interconnecting two different circuit components. The device includes a circuit board 2 that has two sets of pins 3 and ground rails 4 mounted on its upper surface for receiving connectors of the type that are shown in U. S. Patent 3,673,542.

Two conventional sockets 5 for integrated circuit modules are mounted on the lower surface of circuit board 2. Printed wiring 6 on the upper surface of circuit board 2 connects the lefthand set of pins 3 to the connection points 7 of the sockets 5. Similarly, printed circuit lines 8 on the lower surface of circuit board 2 connect the righthand pins 3 to the connection points 7 of the righthand socket 5. Thus, all of the printed connectors are closely equal in length and in electrical characteristics.

Sockets 5 may be plugged into a second circuit board (not shown) having pins with a spacing equal to the connector spacing of sockets 5. For mounting the apparatus of the drawing on the second circuit board, the second circuit board may be provided with a plastic supporting frame (not shown) having an opening that corresponds to the outline of the two sockets shown in Fig. 1.
