Dual Station Glassing Fixture

This is a glassing fixture assembly with clamping force means for securing a slider assembly while it is being glassed.

The device includes base 10, pressure pads 12, slider assembly 14, spacer 16, and pressure wedge 18.

In operation, the assembly 14 to be glassed is positioned on each side of pressure wedge 18 intermediate a pressure pad 12 and a vertical side 20 or 22 of base 10. By applying a force to pressure wedge 18, the assembly on each side is secured until the glassing process is completed.

In order to prevent the glass from sticking to the fixture, both pressure wedge 18 and base 10 are fabricated from a material which has a relatively low affinity for sticking, for example, boron nitride.
