Cartridge Assembly for Variable Width Tickets

The cartridge assembly consists of cartridge 1 and cartridge cover 2 locatable in various positions in cartridge 1 for accommodating the tickets of different size. Also, inserts A and B are positionable within cartridge 1 for accommodating tickets of variable width.

The cartridge assembly may be used in lieu of the cartridge disclosed in U.S. Patent 3,887,106 within the ticket processing machine disclosed in U.S. Patent 3,855,457. Cartridge 1 (Fig. 1) comprises a back 1a, sides 1b and 1c and a relatively low front portion 1d connecting sides 1b and 1c. Opposite slots 10, 12 and 14 are provided in the internal surfaces of sides 1b and 1c, and cover 2 is positionable in slots 10, 12 and 14 so as to define a cross-section within cartridge 1 just slightly greater than the various sizes of tickets accommodated, such as 1 inch x 2 inches, 1 1/4 inches x 2 inches and 1 1/2 inches x 2 inches.

Neither of the inserts A and B (Fig. 2) is in place when cover 2 is disposed in slots 10 for accommodating tickets of largest size. For accommodating tickets of medium size, insert A is put into place, and cover 2 is disposed in slots 12; and for accommodating the tickets of smallest size, insert B is put into place and cover 2 is put into slots 14.

Front portion 1d (Fig. 1) has a transversely extending slot 16, and inserts A and B have spring tab portions 16a for entering slot 16 and holding either of the inserts A and B in place. Cartr...
