Shown is a modified commercial, dipstick capacitance detection package adapted for sensing a variety of corrosive liquids, such as acids and oxidants.

The modification involves the insertion of a TEFLON* dowel 15 into a bottom side bore of locator probe 3. A section of the TEFLON coated conductor 2 (having equal bifurcated portions) is looped around dowel 15. A second TEFLON dowel 1 is inserted in a top-side bore of the probe.

A probe element 16 (TEFLON-coated conductor) is looped around dowel 1, with ends thereof inserted into the holes of dowel 15. The locator probe 3 is then secured by a coupling nut 4 to a cylindrical support 7 of TEFLON or PVC. The locator probe 3 is then slide-mounted on the reduced portion of probe support 7, with probe elements 2 and 16 secured by TEFLON screws 5 and spacers 6 to the inner wall of support 7. The joined probe portions 3 and 7 are then mounted to a TEFLON union 10 which, in turn, is thread-mounted to a TEFLON pressure spacer 12. The probe elements 2 and 16 are secured within spacer 12 and union 10, as shown. Also employed is a TEFLON transmitter support 8 threaded to the top of union 10, in whose interior is disposed a quantity of molding glue for sealing purposes, and closed by a hexagonal screw cap 11, over which is mounted a commercial transmitter head 14.
