Optical Scanner

An optical scanner employs a rotating fiber-optic bundle to transmit light from a stationary illumination source to a document, wherefrom the light is reflected through a moving lens system to a stationary optical detector.

Lamp 11 located approximate to axis 13, provides light through fiber-optic bundle 15 to document glass 17. Light reflected from a document (not shown) on glass 17 passes through lens 19 and is reflected from mirror 21 through aperture 23 to detector 25. Lamp 11 and detector 25 are stationary while the remainder of the system rotates about axis 13 to effect scanning of a document located on curved document glass 17.
