Acoustical Hood for Typewriter Products

The hood, permanently attached to the cover, is as easy to lift, as a single unit, as either a conventional hood or top cover on typewriter products. With the proposed method, it is easier to prevent handling problems caused by the operator using the conventional combination.

The preferred embodiment has the cover/hood 10, 12 lightly spring counterbalanced such that when it is released by the operator through a latch, it lightly raises to the open access position. The cover is closed conventionally, except that now the operator does not also have to lower a separate hood or prevent it from falling closed.

Also, an easy snapping latch may be used.
