Abstract

Shown in the drawing are an exploded view and a cross sectional view of a holder that carries a colorant specimen for analysis by a color analyzer or a spectrophotometer. The holder comprises two cup-shaped plastic halves 1 and 2 which snap together in a nesting relationship to hold a piece of blotter paper 3 therebetween. The colorant 4 is added to paper 3 while wet and may be measured while wet or after drying. Half 1 has an aperture 7 that exposes colorant 4 for analysis. The holder could be placed on a platform 5 of a spectrophotometer, while an optical head 6 bears against half 1. Halves 1 and 2 are preferably opaque to shut out external light from reaching the specimen during a color measurement.
