Abstract

TERMTEXT/Format (IBM Program Number 5796-PBR) is an Installed User Program (IUP) having a plurality of commands used in text processing. By utilizing TERMTEXT's profile feature, TERMTEXT readily adapts to a graphic producing program for generating the program organization charts that illustrate the sequence of procedure calls in PLMs (Program Logic Manuals).

Adapting Computerized Word Processing to Graphics

TERMTEXT/Format (IBM Program Number 5796-PBR) is an Installed User Program (IUP) having a plurality of commands used in text processing. By utilizing TERMTEXT's profile feature, TERMTEXT readily adapts to a graphic producing program for generating the program organization charts that illustrate the sequence of procedure calls in PLMs (Program Logic Manuals).

In the illustrated application, TERMTEXT commands including TC (which actuates the computer to draw a vertical line) and HR (which actuates the computer to draw a horizontal line) combined in profiles generate the following drawing. The drawing refers to a succession of call routines generated by the profiles enumerated on the drawing.

The drawing which refers to a succession of call routines (nested routines) is generated by a series of high level language statements enumerated in the drawing.

1. STARTPO - This statement is a profile to set up the program organization chart for entering the name of the program/command or entering the first label in the chart. The profile has two text locates; one for the name of the program/command and one for the first label.

2-5. TOPn - This language profile actuates the computer to draw the top of each leg of the chart and print associated labels. These profiles extend any previous legs, i.e., extensions to the right, as shown in the drawing. Each profile of this type has one text locate for the label corresponding to that...
