Noncontact Work Plate Leveling Device and Process

To obtain a parallel position of mask and work-place at a fixed gap for mask off-contact printing, a master holder and a work-plate assembly, each having level jets, are movable parallel to each other.

Work-plate alignment assembly 1 carries a leveling system 2 supporting work-plate 3 and being controlled by work-plate level jets 4 arranged on carrier 5 of master holder 6. In a similar manner, master holder 6 is adjustable under the control of master level jets 7 mounted on guide 8 for alignment assembly 1. Guide 8 may additionally hold an elevator 9, which is used to load master 10 onto master holder 6.

For a master and work-plate leveling process cycle, master holder 6, together with work-plate level jets 4, is moved into three positions.

In position I (Figs 1) master 10 is placed on elevator 9 and workplate 3 is positioned on leveling system 2. Elevator 9 moves upwards, and master 10 is brought into contact with master holder 6 and held in place by a vacuum. Elevator 9 retracts.

In position II (Fig. 2) carrier 5 is moved so that master 10 is over master level jets 7, and work-plate level jets 4 are in place over work-plate 3. Master leveling is effected under the control of master level jets 7 by means of manually or motor-driven adjusting screws in carrier 5. Then work-plate 3 is leveled under the control of work-plate level jets 4 by means of adjustment elements which are also driven either manually or by syn...
