Abstract

The wiring assembly fixture has been designed to aid in the wiring of assemblies such as space transformers. The assembly fixture consists of an upper plate 10 which is adjustable vertically by means of a lead screw assembly 12 and block arrangement 14. This upper assembly fixture plate 10 holds the space transformer top plate. A middle assembly fixture plate 16 is located below the upper assembly fixture plate 10 and is fixed to the frame 18 of the wiring assembly fixture. This middle assembly fixture plate 16 is tiltable. The power assembly of a space transformer is located on this middle assembly fixture plate 16, and when tilted this power assembly essentially has its top surface more readily available to the assembler. The lower assembly fixture plate 18 is located below the middle assembly fixture plate 16.

This upper assembly fixture plate 10 holds the space transformer top plate. A middle assembly fixture plate 16 is located below the upper assembly fixture plate 10 and is fixed to the frame 18 of the wiring assembly fixture. This middle assembly fixture plate 16 is tiltable. The power assembly of a space transformer is located on this middle assembly fixture plate 16, and when tilted this power assembly essentially has its top surface more readily available to the assembler. The lower assembly fixture plate 18 is located below the middle assembly fixture plate 16. This plate 18 is adapted to hold an assembly wiring aid plate. This lower assembly fixture plate 18 is slidably attached to the frame 19 and is connected to the adjustable block 14 of the lead screw arrangement 12 by a support rod 20. The frame 19 extends vertically from a base member 21.

In operation, the wirer or assembler inserts the I/O wires (not shown) through the three plates, starting with the top plate, in the proper hole locations.
