Glass Frit Dispenser

Shown is a dispenser for depositing a bead of glass frit material on glass panels, such as employed in the fabrication of gas display units.

Normally, the glass frit composition has a limited time period in which it must be used before it becomes too viscous for convenient use

The dispenser shown extends the life of a glass frit mix, e.g., constant agitation or rotation of the mix by means of a small motor 9 and paddle 5.

In use, air is applied to a cylinder 8 for moving shaft 11 down to position needle valve 7 in nozzle 6 to turn the unit off. Motor 9 is turned on, and pre- mixed glass frit is poured into tube 1. The fill cap 2 is locked on the fill tube with cap lock 4. Air pressure is applied at air inlet 3 to pressurize the dispenser. The pressure to cylinder 8 is appropriately programmed (e.g., reduced) to raise shaft 11 to position the needle valve 7, in nozzle 6, to provide the required nozzle opening for depositing a predetermined bead of glass on a panel.
