Abstract

Rather than terminate multiple-jacketed fiber optics by epoxying the fibers into place, the jacketed fiber optics 10 are placed within a tube 11. Two wedge or cone inserts, one threaded 12 and one unthreaded 13, are inserted in the midst of the jacketed fiber optics and a screw 14 tightened. Tightening draws the inserts together, expanding and holding the fiber optics against the tube 11. Thus, fiber-optic packages may be replaced individually without destroying the entire assembly.
