Abstract

Adjustable wave-solder chimney 10 is located in a solder recirculating tank T of a wave solder assembly. Chimney 10 is configured as an open top rectangular-shaped box having opposite overflow side walls 11 and opposite end walls, e.g., wall 12, and bottom 13, which has an elongated opening 13A parallel to the Y axis.

Wave Solder Assembly

Adjustable wave-solder chimney 10 is located in a solder recirculating tank T of a wave solder assembly. Chimney 10 is configured as an open top rectangular-shaped box having opposite overflow side walls 11 and opposite end walls, e.g., wall 12, and bottom 13, which has an elongated opening 13A parallel to the Y axis.

One or more, e.g., three, hollow open-ended vertical cylinders 14, aligned one behind the other in the drawing, are adjustably mounted. along the Z axis in chimney 10. For example, for this purpose each of the two end walls 12 is provided with a vertical elongated adjusting slot (not shown) through which a set screw or bolt (not shown) passes so as to engage the threaded member 15 affixed on the outer sides of the particular cylinder(s) 14 facing the inner surfaces of end walls 12. Member 15 is part of two inclined elongated baffles 16, which are affixed to cylinder(s) 14 and have appropriate cutouts which conformally fit around cylinder(s) 14.

Each side wall 11 along its bottom edge is provided with a horizontal groove 11A, which runs parallel to the Y axis and through which passes one or more, e.g. two, slidable shutters 17. Adjustment in the X direction of shutters 17 controls the opening size S adjacent the bottom open end of cylinder(s) 14.

In each cylinder 14 there is provided a spirally grooved cylindrical member 18, such as a drill bit. Member 18 is free to move in cylinder 14, and a set screw 19 adjusts its relative pos...
