Abstract

A peristaltic roller pump constructed in accordance with the above figures eliminates possible tubing jams and renders the loading of the tubing easy compared to other known arrangements. Also, there is an inherent safety factor in that there is no exposure of moving parts of the mechanism to the machine operator.

Peristaltic Roller Pump

A peristaltic roller pump constructed in accordance with the above figures eliminates possible tubing jams and renders the loading of the tubing easy compared to other known arrangements. Also, there is an inherent safety factor in that there is no exposure of moving parts of the mechanism to the machine operator.

The pump includes a roller assembly having three rollers 5 which are mounted on frame members 7 and 9, in turn fastened to a drive shaft 11. The rollers thus rotate in a vertical plane responsive to rotation of the drive shaft 11.

An anticreep device comprising a thin flexible spring steel strip 13 is anchored to mounting blocks 15, and is arranged to cover the rollers. A pressure block 17 is designed and arranged so that when it is positioned between side plates 19, the block, which has an arcuate undersurface, will clear the rollers by some predetermined clearance value depending upon the size of the tubing to be used in the pump. Tubing ports 21 are provided in both sides of the pressure block to provide exit openings for the tubing 24. The pressure block 17 is held in place by spring loaded latches which engage the side plates 19, the latches 23 being released by operation of the latch release levers 25 in order to lift the pressure block off the roller assembly. A dress cover 27 may be provided for improved appearance.

In use, the pump is loaded by operating the latch release levers 25 and then lifting the pressure block and...
