Abstract

An improved slider configuration for the three rail flying magnetic transducer assembly of U.S. Patent 3,823,416 is shown in the figures. The center rail 2 and the magnetic transducer 4 of the slider assembly 5 are shaped to be a spacing distance 6 from the plane formed by the surface of the rails 1 and 3. The longitudinal rails 1 and 3 form an air bearing surface with the taper flats 7 urging the slider assembly 5 away from the magnetic media (not shown) which has relative motion with the slider assembly 5. The center rail 2 may or may not have a taper flat 3 since the center rail 2 adds little flying surface compared to the outer rails 1 and 3.
