Abstract

Many ink jet system parts are made from stainless steel since the stainless steel is not attacked by the corrosive action of the ink. There are certain advantages to using a ceramic ink jet head; however, the attachment of a stainless steel tube, which functions as a nozzle in the ceramic head, is difficult to achieve. This is due to the fact that there are a relatively small number of bonding agents that will not corrode when coming in contact with the ink. One of the best bonding agents is a gold-to-gold interface between the ceramic head and the stainless steel nozzle.
