Abstract

In machines where optical elements are caused to move along rails, warpage of the rails must be avoided or else optics quality suffers. A shaft mounting bracket is provided which holds the rails in place without creating bending moments therein.

In machines where optical elements are caused to move along rails, warpage of the rails must be avoided or else optics quality suffers. A shaft mounting bracket is provided which holds the rails in place without creating bending moments therein.

Fig. 1 shows a side view illustrating a shaft 10 held in place by a set screw 11 which bears against knife edge 12 which is directly under the center line of screw
11. Fig. 2 shows a front view wherein it is observed that knife edge 12 makes contact with shaft 10 at two points 13 and 14, thus providing a threepoint mount for the shaft.
