Fluid-controlled electrical connectors for force-free insertion and removal of terminals of electrical devices are well known in the art. Reference is made to U.
S. Patent No. 3,569,905.

The structure shown in the drawing includes a top portion 1, which has entry apertures 1A for the module pins 2, a bottom portion 3, which holds contacts 4 and has an annular groove 5 connected to a controlled air supply 7 (not shown), and a composite annular seal/cam structure 8A, 8B pneumatically associated with the annular groove 5. The composite seal/cam structure is spring biased, as illustrated by spring 9.

The cam portion of the composite structure is preferably fabricated from rigid plastic, such as polycarbonate, whereas the seal portion is preferably fabricated from an elastomer, such as polyurethane or silicone rubber.
