Method of Retaining Cable Cards

The figure illustrates an existing card guide 3 that receives a card 2 in grooves 4, and has arms 5 that extend along the socket end surfaces 6 in the assembled condition.

The improved form of card guide 7 includes the structure of existing guide 3, and, in addition, has extended arms 8 with inwardly projecting hook portions 9 that engage the rear side of the cooperating board 10 (as shown with the phantom view portion of the board). The guide thus serves not only the original guide function, but also affords positive retention to overcome the service problems resulting from disengagement of electrical connections during shipment or service.
