Abstract

A straight-through design for an ink jet head is illustrated. The crystal drive 10 in drive mounting 11 is located outside and in line with the nozzle cavity 12, the two being connected by a small tube 13. A valve 14 selectively opens or blocks the tube 13. The arrangement provides only a small volume in cavity 12 and in the system beyond valve 14. This small volume and low compliance of the head results in excellent pressure startup of jet streams from the nozzles.
