Fluoropolymer Insulation Stripper

Stripping of the fluoropolymer insulation covering from a flat conductive cable by a combustible gas mixture is described in the publication "Fluoropolymer Insulator Stripper," D. S. Hufford et al, IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin 19, 3682 (March 1977).

An alternative method is to preheat the insulated cable tip or end by, for example, immersing it in heated oil or subjecting it to steam or induction heating. When the insulation becomes soft and preferably while it is still being subjected to the heated oil, steam or induction heating, the insulation is wiped off the conductive core of the cable as, for example, by passing the cable end between two power driven rotary brushes or other suitable wipers.
