Abstract

The energization of piezo crystal arrangement 1 causes an expansion in the direction of the arrow and an expansion force acting on the ends of both levers 2a and 2b. In pivoting axis 3, common to both levers 2a and 2b, opposite and equal forces of reaction are generated so that the arrangement remains free from external reaction forces.

The energization of piezo crystal arrangement 1 causes an expansion in the direction of the arrow and an expansion force acting on the ends of both levers 2a and 2b. In pivoting axis 3, common to both levers 2a and 2b, opposite and equal forces of reaction are generated so that the arrangement remains free from external reaction forces.

Due to lever ratio L2/L1 the expansion of piezo crystal arrangement 1 is amplified. Between levers 2a and 2b buckling spring 5 is fixed at points 4a and 4b. Upon the expansion of piezo crystal arrangement 1, spring 5 is deflected (second stroke amplification) so that printing wire 7, coupled to buckling spring 5 at point 6, is driven in the printing direction, as indicated by the arrow.
