Airflow Control for Multiport Exhaust System

The airflow control for multiport exhaust system described on page 4311 of the April 1977 issue of the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin can be improved in the manner described below.

Instead of associating the switch at each exhaust station with a resistor in a bank of resistors, the switches are associated with potentiometers. This allows fine tuning of the system at installation, and facilitates system alterations when requirements change.

Also, an additional set of on/off switches is installed in parallel with the exhaust station on/off switches. The set of parallel switches is located near the operational amplifier (which contains the potentiometers) to aid in debugging, and troubleshooting, the operational amplifier.
