Abstract

Thermoplastic sheet 10 can be bonded to cores 12 prior to wiring so as to facilitate wiring and later can provide magnetostrictive dampening for cores 12. The latter are loaded into matrix 14 and, prior to wiring, a sheet 10 of epoxy glass or copper coated with an estane film is placed estane side down on top of the loaded matrix. Then hot pressure plate 16 is put on top of sheet 10 to soften the thermoplastic estane so as to embed cores 12 in it. Once cores 12 are embedded in sheet 10, is removed from the matrix and wired. Sheet 10 remains on cores 12 after wiring so that the estane film serves to dampen magnetostrictive ringing of such cores. If desired, the cores can be mounted in double-sided core planes by attaching a preferably copper sheet to a centrally located ground plane in the double-sided core frame.
