Abstract

This film transport is for rapid, accurate, and intermittent displacement of unsprocketed film. The transporting of the film is accomplished by the sequential clamping, moving, and releasing of the film by transport clamp 1 and the clamping of the film by aperture clamp 2 during the repositioning of clamp 1. The clamping and releasing of the film is accomplished by sliding the top portion of the clamps up and down the inclined surfaces of the bottom portion 3 to create the necessary pressure or gap between clamp faces 4. This sliding action is accomplished by the rotation of clamping cams 9 against the upper movable portion of clamp 1 and clamp 2. The clamp 1 movement is controlled by the positive mechanical action of main cam 5 and cam follower shaft 6.

Intermittent Incremental Film Transport

The accurate displacement of the film is controlled by the interference of adjustable locking nuts 7 on the follower shaft and the frame of the mechanism 8. The accurate timing of cams 9 is accomplished through a timing belt or chain 10.
