Abstract

This magnetic memory uses a portion of sphere 1 on the inner surface of which magnetic tracks are delineated. The portion of sphere 1 is locked on plate 2 which is the top extremity of shaft 3. The assembly is mounted rotatively around the axis of shaft 3. Arm 4 bears read-write head 5. It is displaced in a vertical plane by rotation about center C of the portion of sphere 1. Two modes of operation are possible. In the first mode, the recording tracks are concentric and arm 4 is positioned to place head 5 on a given track for a reading or writing operation. In the second mode, only one spiral track is provided for continuous recording.
