Abstract

The stand alone speed reading and reading comprehension device comprises tape input 10 to television tape monitor display 12 and a display rate control stage comprising controls for varying the rate of display. In the device, there can be displayed pages of lines of print and these lines can be moved upwardly to give the effect of the scanning of a page. To implement the key word concept for teaching speed reading and comprehension, certain words are illuminated more than others by varying the gray level. With the employment of a programmable system, these key words are regenerated at a faster rate to achieve their enhanced illumination.
