Abstract

Transducer 10 is adjustably set with respect to toothed emitter wheel 11 by adjustment screw 12. Transducer 10 comprises cylindrical plastic body 13 longitudinally movable in housing 14 and having iron pole piece 15 extending from one end into proximity with wheel 11. Electrical leads 16 and 17 extend into body 13 which contains a permanent magnet and a coil connected to such leads for detecting the passage of teeth on wheel 11 past pole piece 15 by fluctuations of emf in the coil and across leads 16 and 17. Spring 18 extends between an internal shoulder in housing 14 and slug 19 fixed on transducer 10. Slug 19 has a chamfered corner surface 20 on which the tapered end of screw 12 is effective for moving transducer 10 in housing 14.
