Abstract

The gage measures the distances the holes in a punched card vary from the correct distances measured from one edge of the card. The gage has plate 10 on which card 11 is placed. Upper guide 12, on which the upper edge of card 11 rests, holds the card in proper position on plate 10. The latter is provided with rows and columns of marks with which holes in card 11 are aligned. Indicator slide 13 has tongue 14 extending through slot 15 in plate 10. Slot 15 extends at 1 1/2 degrees with respect to the vertical edges of card 11 and plate 10 so that slide 13 can be moved into engagement with the vertical side edge of card 11. Slide 13 has indicator mark 16 on it.

Card Gauge

A series of indicator marks 17 is provided on plate 10 so that when slide 13 is in engagement with a side edge of card 11, with the holes in the card being aligned with the marks on plate 10, the particular indication 17 which is in alignment with mark 16, indicates the variation from normal of the spacing of the holes in card 11 with respect to the adjacent vertical edge of card 11. A card guide similar to 12 can be placed on one side of plate 10 to receive a vertical edge of card 11. An indicator slide similar to 13 can be provided above or below card 11 to move horizontally to engage the upper or lower edge of card 11.
