Abstract

Constrained dimensioning of magnetic record disk 10 and cooperating shroud 12 prevents erasing of any data magnetically recorded in recording surface 14 by ring magnet 16 as disk 10 is mounted on spindle assembly 18. Magnet 16 is pressed into turntable 22 for holding disk 10 in operating relationship. Tapered DELRIN* guide 24 on turntable 22 guides disk assembly 26 onto cylindrical surface 28 of turntable 22 for accurate location and relocation. Annular MYLAR* member 32 serves both as a nonmagnetic shim between magnet 16 and ferrous insert 34 of assembly 26 and as a driving surface of large coefficient of friction. Handling knob 34 on assembly 26 is open at the top to permit thumb pressure on guide 24 enabling assembly 26 to be removed from the machine. *Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co.
