Abstract

Attaching a thin shell to a driving member without employing a mechanical devices is accomplished by this chemically formed clamp. A molecular bond to a machined hub 1 is produced at 2 as the thin shell 3 of metal is being formed by electrodeposition onto hub and mandrel 4. The latter is coated with a disposable, metallized material 5 to permit withdrawal of mandrel 4 at the completion of the plating process.
