Abstract

When a microprogram control store is formed of storage cells which cannot retain data when the power is turned off, the microprogram must be loaded each time the power is turned on and on each occasion when the control store data is lost. The loading of the microprogram into the control store is achieved by providing a portion of the control store with storage cells having an asymmetry so that when the power is turned on the cells assume a predetermined state. The cells in this portion of the control store control the loading of the microprogram. After the power is turned on, the asymmetrical cells become as normal storage cells.
